![]() Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Mike Thompson first fell in love with photography when he enrolled in a high school class and has never really put his camera down since. He attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA and worked as a photographer and editor for the Whitman Pioneer. During this time, he won the Robert R. Hosokawa Award for Photojournalism in 2004 and 2005.
Aside from doing college photojournalism, Mike also worked as the official photographer for Whitman's nationally-ranked Harper Joy Theatre and as a multimedia technician for the school's computer services department (being a multimedia technician means that he assisted with student and faculty projects when they needed graphical/audio/video content of some nature). He recently returned to the Bay Area after graduating in May 2006 with a major in History and a minor in Art History & Visual Studies. Since returning home, he was won even more awards and has had his work appear on ABC's "Nightline" program. His wide range of experience has allowed him to craft a unique visual style that brings both a sense of fun and professionalism to his art.
Mike is also a member of the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs and the Diablo Valley Camera Club.
